Yellow Brick House Shelters

What If Home Is A Dangerous — Even Deadly — Place to Be?

Yellow Brick House operates two shelters with a total of 41 beds and 10 cribs, providing crucial refuge for women and children. Only 25 of these beds are funded, and we urgently need to raise $775,000 to support the remaining 16 beds, ensuring that our clients receive the essential, free, and confidential services they need to rebuild their lives.

  • In Ontario only, between November 26, 2022 and November 25, 2023, 67 women and children lost their lives in gender-related killings by men
  • In Canada, an average of 487 women and children are turned away from shelters per day because the shelters are at capacity—the reason associated with 71% of women being turned away (Statistics Canada 2020-2021).
  • Over 100 municipalities in Ontario have declared intimate partner violence an epidemic.
